X5 4.8l 35 faults detected, Cel and hesitation

Below is the detailed fault report for my 07 x5 4.8l. Been having a problem where the cel comes on and then car hesitates on acceleration. When I reset the ecu the car drives fine but for a little while and then cel comes back again. What is the problem?

    Your battery is under voltage!
    Erase codes,
    Fully charge your battery,
    Test drive
    Scan again.

You can use a certified battery charger like CTEK mus4.3A. Or charge it at Auto parts store.

Seems the battery is what people always talk about. I actually replaced it just last week but I haven't registered it yet. The fault data generated by Carly was under the new battery, which shows you it need be registered. I've been driving around with a 5yr old interstate battery while all the symptoms were happening. Hopefully, this will solve the mystery for the last few months.

No, an unregistered battery won’t throw any codes in a week or month.

    Two notes:

1-A new battery does not necessarily come fully charged. It sits on shelves for months. If you haven’t, ensure you charge it up, erase, test drive, then scan again.

2-if your daily commute is frequent short droves, you will end up having the sane issue soon again. Try charging it regularly, or drive it at least longer than 20 km /one trip a week. (20 km=~13miles)

One more note, you should always erase the codes once you have a copy of them backed up.

These codes might be from the past, still in memory, if you hadn’t erased them after replacing the battery. Try looking at the freeze frame data (if accessible in Carly) to find out the mileage the codes were thrown. (To know before or after battery change)

Since there's so many can faults, I suspect it's probably a failed module or a short. O boy.. dark days lie ahead.

Clear all faults and recheck right now there is to much information to zero in on what's really going on, you could scan any newer BMW and come away with some kind of faults.

As well, check for bad/missing grounds. I've seen the weirdest symptoms imaginable due to that.

To check grounds, where would I start at? I heard the dashboard may have to come out to find a short, is this true?

A short can be anywhere in the car. A short is when positive and negative make direct contact (eg; positive wire chafing against a sharp metal opening until the wire strands touch the metal, which carries the negative power unit).

But I'm talking about a bad ground. Much, much easier to confirm. Check in the engine compartment for any cables, large or small, which are fastened to ground (the cars' chassis, engine or body). The connections should be clean and tight, the cable wire shouldn't be corroded. Then go under the car and repeat.

Our X6 was originally up here in Canada with only 35k miles. After bringing it down to FL, a cursory inspection uncovered a corroded/non-existant ground under the car at the rear near the mufflers/resonators. BMW won't spend a penny more than they have to, so although I had no symptoms, I know the ground strap wasn't there for grins.

I hope this is the problem, and not to prove me right. If it isn't something that simple, then yeah, you may be in for a long dark ride...

Yea, I've posted on other forums too and seems the alternator may also be the culprit, as I did mention about my ac being off until I reached a stop light and decided to switch it on. The rpms did drop quite a bit and also noticeable from the sound of the engine. But how likely would a bad alternator trigger all the faults? The can faults, transmission faults, passenger seat fault, sun roof faults, etc.. crazy... And a simple ecu reset will the suv then drive normally but only for a short period of time.
