I recently accuiered my first bmw. I have owned and enjoyed a SUPRA for the past 10 years. I picked up a 2015 535i with 17k miles that had spent some time playing in the water in Houston this summer. My intention was to flip it because I already have a tuner car but it’s been so fun to drive I think I will keep for at least a year or two. The main problem at this point the car is saying it can’t communicate with the airbag module. I ordered one on eBay that is supposed to fit my car. After it got here I removed the center console to try and find it. I found something that says airbag on it but It doesn’t look like what I received on eBay. Anyway after searching the pn# on the module in my car I believe it is the body control module. Is this also the airbag control module? If the second picture is to my car where is it located? I have search but can’t come up with an answer. Any help would be great.

Also the car has a bad hesitation. I’ve searched and seems like a common problem with lots of possibilities. Is the anything inpaticular that comes to mind knowing the car was in water upto about an inch above the bottom door jam?
Thanks for any help.
Any help would be great! Even if it’s just “hey dumb ass that part you ordered doesnt even fit your car, _________ this is what you need”!
thanks
There are a dozen modules in the car that have their hand in and out of the airbag system. If you're not using ISTA to get to the bottom of what is going on and what actually needs to be replaced you're going to be guessing with your wallet a lot.
The module you have your hand on under the console is the ICM control unit. The airbag module is behind the glovebox, which will need to be removed along with the passenger side knee airbag to remove and replace.

Ok, thanks. I ordered a better scanner and hope I can figure it out.
You don't need a better scanner, you need an old laptop, a downloaded copy of ISTA-D, and a enet cable. Same software dealers and specialist independents use.
