I’ve been removing some aftermarket wiring from a sound system a previous owner had installed and I came across what looks like a VGA cable in the driver side of the trunk behind the carpet. Anybody know what this might go to? It appeared to have a part number on the sheathing like bmw would but nothing turned up when I searched for it. It runs from its location just forward of the driver side battery, back behind the amp and then in to the center section of the rear seat. I’m pretty certain it’s not a factory cable since it’s zip tied to another wire.
It's a 25-way D-Type connector - and the type used for early telephone transceivers....

Oh I see. I totally forgot these came pre wired for telephones. Thank you so much.
Some BMW mobile phones were installed at the dealer - could very well be one of those.

...the price of cool ain't cheap!
My car doesn’t have one so if it did it was removed at some point. Might just remove the cable too while I have the rest of the interior out to clean things up a little.
I regularly unplug the phone wiring harness from the car's harness.
Its located in the trunk between the battery and shock tower on the driver side - 8 pin rectangular connector with 5 pins on most cars. Unplug, trace downstream and feed all components to the trash can, including the module next to the amplifier.

I’ll probably end up doing this. I’m waiting on some random clips and fasteners I found missing and for some reason some of them are coming from Germany.
