So as I am slowly and patiently pumping life into my 1987 535is that I recently purchased. It had been sitting for 15 years atleast in a garage here in Northern California.
I've been poking through posts and before I dive into an R&R session on the heater valve, I just wanted to get some clarity on something:
The car once warmed up, does not pump heat through the main forward facing vents. It will run heat through the defrost, and as I slide the levers over to the left side, I can hear what sounds like the actuator switching directions. Right away the defrost vents are putting out heat.
Does this add to sound like a heater valve problem is there something more or less problematic at work here?
Thanks guys,
Joe
I have a similar problem on my 1984 528e. Heat comes out the defrost vents, and floor vents, but the 'straight on' chest level openings in the dash only blow cold air at the same time hot is blowing out of the floor and defrost??? I haven't seen anything that might explain this. I have not pulled the whole dash assembly apart to see what's inside and was hoping for some direction.
There is no heat from the center front vents. It is only fresh air. So if you are getting the vent heat and the floor heat you are doing well.
