    750i w/ DTC 400126. Transmission LOCKED

    I'm mostly an E9, E30, E28, E24 guy, but my neighbor has a late '09 build date F02 750i with a transmission problem I am looking to help solve.

    The wife was driving it when the "D" started flashing, but it made it to their house. They had it towed to my shop building, and the operator dropped it outside my lift bay.

    That's where the fun started, or maybe ended.

    It will run, but only in a kind of neutral. The shifter is flashing "D" and will not actually shift anything, and the transmission is actually in a "Park" like gear since it cannot be pushed (nicely blocking my shop bay!).

    The DTC on my scanner says,

    Solenoid Valve 3 (Park Lock Holding Magnet) Shorted to Ground


    Has anyone encountered this DTC with these symptoms, and what did you do to un-stick it so it could be pushed and ultimately repaired?
    My shop approach is gravel, so a dolly under the wheels would not work absent some large pneumatic wheels and tires.

    The owner called the dealership and was told that a factory remanufactured transmission could probably fitted for around $12k plus installation, but that no one but the factory is qualified or has the specialty tools to actually work on these transmissions. They said they would only look at it if it was presented at the dealership (60mi away) and a commitment was made to do the work.

    Any suggestions most welcome.

    Hey bob im having the same issue with my 09 750li it wont move and the d gear is blinking! It also says drive train malfunction and contact bmw assist what was your diagnosis the car been stuck in park for 6 days pls help!!!

    OBD SCANNERS CODES THT CAME UP

    When this happened, I jacked the car so I could get under it and manually moved the shift lever on the trans itself to neutral so the car could be moved.

    Removed the pan and the entire valve body and ordered a kit of solenoids from ebay (dealer won't sell them in the USA) .

    Installed the solenoids (not a bad job), put it all back together and installed the valve body back up into the trans with new fluid, and damn if it didn't work perfectly!

    I forget what the solenoid kit cost, but it was a few hundred dollars only.

    Obviously be very careful of any small parts getting lost, and make sure everything is spiffy clean!

    indy dealer he told me I have to replace entire valve body or get a new transmission swap I don’t think it’s that serious more like what your saying I’m going to try your way will send an update thanks again

    Yes-That's what a dealer is programmed to say. I think a new valve body is like $4000.

    Just do an ebay search, or...

    They are relatively EASY to replace if you take your time and keep everything clean.
