Hi All, I wonder if you can help. I'm trying to work out what piston rings I should be using on my engine rebuild. My engine was a M52B28, block #1748450, which is the nikasil block. So my pistons should be part #11251432806, which says the pistons are 83.975mm and the rings would be #11251740855 which are 83.975mm.
As I'm putting my bottom end internals into the M50 block, which rings should I be using? The same ones I would have used in my M52 block as above, or should I be using ones to match the M50/M52 non Nikasil block? From what I can see on Real OEM there are 4 other piston ring sizes for the M50/M52 seperate to the Nikasil ones which you can see here.
If anyone can advise which ones should be used would be great. Also what about gapping the rings, is there a recommended gap for boost or just to oem spec?
Thanks very much
Rob
Hone the block and get stock replacement rings. Open the gap up a little. Maybe by 0.002"

A stock ring set is stupid expensive. I’ve bought two.
