Hello everyone
A friend of mine got an X6 E71 BMW X6 50iX with a very weird problem
I tested the car and hear is how it goes
It starts normal and idle very well no rattling or jerking, it drives well and shift smooth like it should, up till I get to about 100 M/h and RPM about 4400 then I just lose power and I get check engine light that say
“Full engine power no longer available. Possible to continue journey. Drive moderately. Have the problem checked by the nearest BMW service “
I pull over and turn off the car for 30 sec. turn it back on and everything is back to normal, no check engine light and the car pulls strong
I put it in manual, 3rd gear and went hi on the rpm up to 6000 rpm and it did not cutout
Took the car back to the shop and pulled out the cods, I got
310A --- charge pressure control 2, plausibility ------------------------- present
3100 --- Charge pressure control, switch-off----------------------------- present
2F3A --- Hot film air mass meter, correction signal, electrical ------ not present
Changed both HPFP, the MAFS, the intake Pressure sensors and the Turbocharger Pressure Converters from a working downer N63 engine
Still no change
The car has a full cat back, aside from that it is stock
I am open to suggestions, thank you
I had a similar issue on acceleration and high rpms. Diagnosed as bad coil caused engine misfire
a bad coil , but that should throw some sepesefic codes right ?
did you get the same cods (3100, 310A) on a bad coil ?
I don't know I took it to the shop that did the dinan upgrade. They said misfire and switched the coil in question to another cyl - took for test drive and the misfire followed the coil to the new cyl... So if u can isolate the problem that would be one way to diagnose
Hi buddy,
Have you fixed this issue, I am facing the same issue, 310A and 3100, but mine stall at 4000 rpm, I used to have the problem temperature too high (yellow) that appears once I start the car and disappears after 10 seconds, fixed that by replacing the turbos water pump, and I also had a misfire in cylinder 5 and changed the coil, but I am still facing the same issue. Any luck?
