    E39 touring m73 swap

    Hello I’m swapping in a m73b54 out of a 96 750il into a 2000 528i e39 touring
So far what I’ve done is the m73 is In the e39 already nice and snug just no driveshaft yet. And the reason I’m making this post Is I believe I have an issue so when I first swaped the engine in I did get it to start once in the e39 by running wires from the e38 to the engine in the e39 as in I would turn the key in the e38 and it would fire up the engine that was sitting in the e39. Shortly after that success I fried one of the ecu’s and since then it’s been hell. So as of right now I have 3 sets of dme’s for it two tcu’s and two eml’s. I also swaped over the pedal from the e38 and it is functional. So since then I’ve tried a lot of things to get it to start again but the biggest problem is the ews. I’ve purchased an ews emulator but it says it doesn’t support Bosch dme’s only Siemens so that didn’t work so then I transferred over the ews2 module from the e38 and hooked it all up with the key ring and all except for 3 wires that went to the cluster and body control module. I hooked up my laptop with inpa using an ads interface to the engine harness round plug and I get communication with the ews module and the dme’s but it wount let me do an isn alignment and the ews reads no codes so any ideas on how I could get it to align and hopefully get this engine started would be greatly appreciated. Also because of all my unsuccessful attempts I ended up purchasing an ms3pro evo standalone ecu which I hoped to use to run the engine regardless of ews crap but I want to maintain drive by wire, stock gauges and stock automatic transmission as i unfortunately don’t have enough money yet for a manual swap and I already previously purchased the transmission oil service kit from ecs tuning so today messing with the project I realized that in order to maintain original drive by wire and gauges and trans I’d have to get the dam thing to start with the stock ecu’s anyway so that it thinks it’s in control and runs the throttle body’s,gauges and trans. So I’m stumped on what or how to do this any ideas? Thank your for reading

Cool project, and I'm rooting for you. I recently sold my 750 and I miss the M73 every day.

I'm afraid I'm of no help except that this is the only person I know of that modifies the M73 ECUs, so maybe he can be of service https://www.dudmd.net/

    Best of luck.
Interests include: Any VIN beginning with "WBS", any engine code with a "7" as the second digit, any Individual car, and all things Touring.

12V to pins 62 is not enough to bybass ews?
M5.2 on e36 is easy, just cut pin 66 from ecu. These are same ecu, but 66 is not connected on m73.
