    328i Starter Question

So I have the infamous valve cover leak. Bad enough where it is dripping on the header and giving a smoke screen. Having my indie change it out hopefully within the next week or so.

I am having slow cranks several months ago it sounds about like when you get a weak battery. Because of that, I replaced the battery, with no improvement to the slow cranks. It is slightly better when the car is warm. It will occasionally turn over a few extra times (long crank) before starting.

My question is, does this sound like a starter issue? If so I may just go ahead and get it done while half of the beauty covers are off.

My car currently has 104,000 miles and as far as I know the original starter.

I had the same issue on my e90 328i at approx 62,000 miles, replaced the battery no change. Replacing the stater fixed it.

I may just do it. Did you use an OEM unit?

Yah sounds like the starter. Mine was cranking slow when I bought it. New. Battery and no change. Few months later it wouldn't start because the starter died.

    All Better!

Thanks for all the info guys! I went ahead and had it replaced with a brand new Bosch unit and it's night and day difference.

In addition, I was having a rough idle or a miss at startup that is no longer there after replacing a bunch of gaskets and the starter.
