Im trying to remove the back of the rear seat. I removed the two screws but it feels like something is keeping the rear seat in. I cant find another bolt or screw. Dont wanna break the seat or anything... how do I get this out?
Edit: mix of brute force and finesse wins out. I'd say I'm overly cautious but you never know with these old cars.

Doesn't get more simple than that: https://www.bmwtechinfo.com/repair/main/027en/index.htm

Thanks. I found that the seat is rested in some large tabs at the top, so lifting at that location made it easier
There are two plastic tabs, when you remove them you will expose both screws. Once removed, you can lift the bottom seat up. Dont forget to bring the seat belt stuff over the bench when re installing.
Good luck

Removed mine pretty easily a few years back. If ur still stuck, send pics and I'll take a look at mine on the bench.
Seats are out. There were large metal tabs that also hold up the fiberglass/fabric mat. The seat was pressed in these tabs pretty good but simple prying got them out.
Ive broken some items in this car thinking you just needed to yank harder, and then Ive wasted time trying to figure out how to remove something when you just need to yank harder.
Was there a bunch of fibers under the seat? Every time I pull my seats I end up spending like 10 minutes vacuuming.
Tons. I would just take them out but I like their look. They will absolutely serve no function, I dont want the horse hair to crumple to nonexistance.
If you like the crunch but hate the cleanup you can take off the seat cover, which is hog-rung down, and put a relatively thin layer of higher density upholstery foam on either side. I'd try 1/2" myself. Then just ring it back on. Not wonderfully easy, but far from complicated and fairly quick. Bonus points are won for making the inside of the car quieter.
