Style 42 refurb complete, what a pain...

I've done other wheels, this is the first set of 2 piece and worst I've ever done. Quite the pain but a very good result considering the condition they were in, I'd say 90-95 percent. Will make someone a very good set of wheels. They are for sale, I'll be listing them on CL today. Here's the pics with the 1st pic being the condition before. Second is a wheel compared to OEM on my son's e39.

I don't think there's a screw missing...the hole's you see are for the stem. The lips are not painted, I polished them then had to put a surface on them so the clear would stick. If you look at the OEM wheels they aren't super shiny under the clear.

Vow! It's obvious that a lot of elbow grease went into these. Outstanding!

Really nice! My 42s are in horrible condition. Worse I've seen by far. Just cant justify the time or price for an overhaul...

bet you a buck mine are worse !! lmao... which sucks...they were warranty take-offs due to clear coat starting to corrode underneath in little spots. (stone chips and winter roads...). We put them in the warehouse where we kept the summer and winter wheel sets for our customers. BMW never called them back so I wound up with them a few years later 'cause I was the only guy rolling an e39. (that gives you an idea of how long I had them...!!)

I'm in the same boat...I would love to o/h these things as they really make the car look sharp. I have 4 natty ones and a fifth that is in pretty fair shape. Those were the first set of sport wheels I had for these cars...(they went on my wife's '97...and she totally loved those rims.)

heck of a job retcav !! I saw the ad today as a matter of fact. I have family in Chattanooga...so it'd be an easy grab, just not in the market right now...(too much other $#!t to fix..lol..)
