i just moved (divorce) and have lost my shop, meaning 2 of my 4 cars are on the block.
i drove it daily for over two years. then a mini cooper came up as a too-good-2-pass-up deal and the e23 sat in my shop. and until this past week, the car never spent a night outside.
"highlights":
- the car has the high compression (dirty) engine
- scheel seats
- newer rear subframe, anti-sway bar
- limited slip
- the rear seat is the reclining seat, but is not hooked up. motors have been verified to work.
- comes with crack-free dash
- straight body, bumpers
- always maintained and lived indoors
Recent work: (i'm currently looking for my last work receipts. they're packed somewhere. off the top of my head)
- replaced the brake bomb, brakes are in good shape
- both rear half-shafts, belt, all fluids,
- thermostat, general tune-up parts, one of the upper controls arms
- other some other small things
things to do:
- passenger seat needs a part to recline and it's currently tacked into its upright place in pics.
- there's a small (dime-sized) rust spot on the roof
- sunroof could be realigned, but does not leak
- tools have "walked-off" over the years.
- Odometer does not work.
- tires - probably 5k miles remaining
- HVAC needs refurbishing as well as the squirrel cage (I believe the fan-race needs lubricating)
i will get current pics up, but it hasn't changed. i've simply kept it clean, maintained and have just enjoyed it. now i hope it gets the same treatment from the next owner.
i would hop in it and take another road trip without hesitation! it's in great shape.
Here's my thread when I purchased the car.
