Looking for guidance with respect to a rhythmic and loud clicking sound coming from my heater valve. Sounds like solenoids constantly activating. I am also getting an abnormal amount of water swishing sound from behind dash.
1. Is this a sign either the heater valve or water pump is falling or could it be something else?
2. Should I think about changing both if I have to change either one?
Thanks for your input.

Yeah they kinda click off/on all the time seemingly irrespective of hvac settings

Only without 12V they are silent = switched off = valves are open, when you set a temperature the valves are pulsing to regulate the temperature. In case they are too loud, check the 2 vibration dampers #15 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=64_0638
usually they break when old, then the clicking noise is louder.
yes = switched off valves = full hot = valves are fully open, right side temperature control wheel setting is overriddenTurning the temperature wheels to max cold should prevent the click-click.

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Air tends to get trapped in there causing more swishing noise. Perhaps a good bleed will help. Just like medieval times. Break out the leeches or search the site for how to bleed.

The aircond can make a swiching sound if charge is too low. But has nothing to do with clicking sound.
