My 2007 Z4 has the EPS light showing and steering is really hard at slow speed. I've read on other threads that I can disconnect the EPS motor under the dash to verify if its a sensor or the unit. Questions: where is the sensor and can it be removed and rebuilt? If rebuildable, is there a shop in the U.S. that does it? I'll try to get under the dash and disconnect the motor today. Any input and advice is really welcomed. Thanks
I just removed my steering column myself and replaced the eps motor w/eps ecu. Does it go in and out? Mine would work when it was hot out, like if the interior of the car got hot, it would work fine. It's not super difficult. To remove the steering column you have to cut a piece out from under the dashboard.
