Hey everyone, I've been working with one of, if not the most reputable European car importer in the states, in an attempt to bring over a pair of E36 tourings within the next year under the 25-year-exemption law. For those not familiar, we can import cars to the US for street-use under the 25-year-exemption law, based off of the production date of the vehicle. For example, today I can import any vehicle from anywhere in the world that was built in January of 1993 or before. I know the tourings first came out as 1994 model year in Europe, presumably beginning production sometime during mid-to-late 1993, however I cannot pinpoint when production began. I'm having the hardest time finding any information regarding production of the touring models, so I'm hoping some of the European Bimmer fans on here might be able to shed some light, or shoot me in the right direction. Basic internet searches haven't turned up much for useful information.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
The 316 7/95-5/99, 318 2/95-5/99, 318tds 10/94-05/99, 320 5/94-5/99, 320tds 10/94-05/99, 328 10/94-05/99
Yikes! I had thought the '94 model year cars would have some late '93 production dates in there. Apparently these were late '94 release cars. This was the exact information I've been searching for. I guess I have another year and a half or so before I can bring over a pair (assuming I can find a good pair of early-production cars). Thanks!
There are a couple of import E30 touring models locally here that are listed for crazy prices ($12000) I haven't seen any E36's pop up. Not sure what the appeal of a wagon is besides the rarity since they are Euro market cars.
I could get a super Nice E36 M3 for that with change left.
Would it be legal and/or cheaper to import a touring shell and swap over the engine, tranny, and emissions equipment from a US donor car?
Alpine 318ic FTMFW!

I find this personally more interesting.

I want a later model German E36 M3.
But... Import a German E36 touring then do a full M3 parts swap and you might make me amused.
