Hi Guys
Where should I buy a power steering pump for my 87 325I Convertible?
Thanks

www.car-parts.com?
I think the p/n you are looking for is 32411141243.
It also looks like there is a rebuild kit, p/n 32411133023 for a Vickers brand pump (I guessed at a 06/87 build 325i Convertible Automatic in www.realoem.com - use the last seven of your VIN to determine the actual pump installed in your car)
Rebuild kit for ZF pump, p/n 32411135880.
As indicated below, buy a used ZF pump and associated brackets, rebuild the pump (seal kit only) and install.

I would also check a salvage yard, I would have an issue going used - maybe even Ebay..
I dont want to go with remanufactured.
Any recommended brands?
Thanks

First determine if you have a ZF or Valeo pump. The Valeo pumps are pretty uncommon. If you have a Valeo, you're better off converting the brackets to the ZF style. As for brand, ZF. As for remanufactured, it's really just clean and a seal kit.

First of all I erred. It's Vickers (LuK) and not Valeo. Everything else still applies. I've done a reseal kit on my wife's 528e in my driveway. That was well over 100,000 miles ago and still no leaks.
To tell the difference, here's a few visual cues
1. Nameplate: Vickers or LuK vs ZF is the best way
2. Number of ribs on the "snout": Vickers has 4 while ZF has 12
3. Pulley mount (hard to see while on car): Vickers is round while ZF is triangle
If it turns out you have the Vickers, swapping to the ZF is pretty straightforward. Hose connections can be swapped over. Brackets are slightly different so there's a couple you would have to pick up.
This is a messy job, so you might as well do these at the same time so you only have to clean up once.
1. Flush the old oil out of the system.
2. New supply and return hoses with new OE clamps. I think your year uses the bulk hoses so this is pretty cheap.
3. Replace the reservoir as it has a built in filter. New versions have CFH 11.S embossed in the fill cap instead of ATF. Reuse your old cap but swap the o-ring over from the new one. You can also clean and reuse the old one but I'd still recommend replacing the o-ring.

I did a search on that number. Amazing difference in price from almost a $1000 on amazon to $80 on Ebay (new). Ebay here I come. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Power-S...haBxIX&vxp=mtr
Do you realize that is not a ZF pump? It's the ZF style but likely a Chinese knockoff. I'd personally rather get a rebuilt original ZF part.

Yes, I know it's a probably a Chinese knock off. It's really pot luck on Chinese stuff. Some is OK, some not. A lot of replacement parts for cars are Chinese. Most replacement brake disc's are Chinese. I've had fairly good luck on Chinese stuff. Depends on your budget and use. Do you take the chance?
Which one is better?

TRW is (was) an American manufacturer of American car OE and aftermarket parts. As a young adult, I had good luck with them on my ‘55 Chevy....fast forward fourty years and they are a subsidiary of ZF_Friedrichshafen.

I'd go with a good used pump over a new Chinese knockoff any day.
I just rebuilt a 25 year old ZF for my 91 318iS yesterday with the 32411135880 rebuild kit. I'd already opened it and saw the vane pump, cam housing were in perfect shape so there was no reason not to. I also vapor honed the housing and had all the hardware yellow zinc choromated.

I'd also go with the TRW reman part. But if you really wanted new, Vaico isn't a bad choice.

Nothing wrong with a good well made rebuild unit, but as mentioned earlier, replace all the hoses and use new clamps.
I've seen two different kind of pulleys in ads for M20 power steering pump. One is with offset and one is "flat", what's the difference?
