Hi everyone
I have a 2011 BMW X3 28i Xdrive with 49K miles on it. Sometimes ago the ABS, Park, Traction control, Brake and 4x4 suddenly lit up for no apparent reason. I took the vehicle to my nearest BMW dealership and they ran a diagnostic study, which showed the following fault codes:
- 480131 [ICM: Internal Control Unit Fault]
- 480A5B [DSC unit: Internal, pump, speed]
- D017A3 [DSC interface (actual number of sensor edges wheel, 64.1.2): Signal invalid]
- D017C5 [Interface DSC (actual speed, wheel, 46.0.1): Signal invalid]
- D3AC8D [DSC interface (status, hydraulic function, 25D): Signal invalid]
- 800F92 [Welcome light, repeat interlock, active]
- 801405 [CON: undervoltage]
- B7F6B4 [Instrument panel: Switch-off fault in the display unit, no signal]
- E114DB [Instrument panel: Demand based service message, message from CBS subscriber (BBH) missing]
- E114DC [Instrument panel: Demand based service message, message from CBS subscriber (BBH) missing]
Dealer said I need to replace my DSC Unit [DSC module + brake pump] and they were going to charge me more than $4,500 for parts, labor and recoding the new DSC module.
I have read in some forums that I can buy another DSC module and have BMW dealership recode it to my own VIN #, however when I called BMW service dept, they said they cannot do that.
I have also contacted a few places I found online that specialize in rebuilding DSC modules like modulemaster.com and myairbags.com and I was told that they don't work on the DSC modules from BMW X3 2011 and up.
I just don't know what to do or where to even start. I know that I don't have $4500 to spend right now.
I really do appreciate your guidance and expertise.
Thank you
You should have no problems getting a used one programmed by someone that knows a bit if the BMW software. Usually not affiliated with dealers.
It's similar to E90 3 series DSC swaps, which, if those are possible, then yours is as well.

Thank you for the reply. Like I said, I've tried multiple online places that specialize in fixing and reseting modules like modulemaster.com, aesmodules.com and myairbags.com. Do you know of any other places I can try?
Also do you know if my DSC module is compatible with other BMW model DSC modules? I was thinking if this is the case then try to purchase one of the compatible modules and have that programmed to my car instead. I know sometimes some parts from a specific models fit other models.
Only X3 and X4 of same chassis range will work. So F25 or F26.
Repair kit to the module itself (electronics part) is $1000 at the dealer, so used can be put in for a little cheaper.
Use realoem.com with your last 7 of VIN to look up parts and interchange compatibility.

Any chance the battery or alternator is going? Or have these already been checked?
