Z3 Coupe rear spoiler...hard to find information on them

    Hey guys,

I'm considering purchasing a z3 coupe in the near future. This particular coupe has the 3 piece rear hatch spoiler (one on the hatch, one on each rear fender).

I am most likely going to remove it because I think it looks terrible. Regardless, I was wondering if the OEM unit is drilled on or simply uses adhesive. If it drilled on, are the holes large? would it be easy to fill those holes in somehow? I will be completely repainting the car, perhaps I can simply fill those holes in prior to the paint? Not sure if that is difficult to do or not. I'm having a hard time finding any concrete information on this as most of my searches end up with regular z3 roadster related posts.

    Any tips?

Should be drilled, but could be mounted with just tape as well. Holes would not be too big, perhaps looking up an installation tutorial for that spoiler would provide the needed info regarding exact hole size

Just don’t destroy them as you remove them. Although you may not like it, many love the piece and they are no longer available anywhere and go for big $$$. You probably have 5 PM’s in your box by now wanting to buy it.

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like at the very least, selling it will cover the cost of plugging the holes only because I am going to repaint the car though.

I habent purchased the car yet and am actually waiting to hear back about another better condition clownshoe that does not have the spoiler. So best case scenario I would have to mess with it st all. Worst case. I sell it. Medium case, it ends up growing on me so I actually enjoy it lol. We will see

It will grow on you. At first I didn’t like mine and like you, contemplated taking it off but now I love it and love the fact that there are so few of them out there. It’s nice being unique. I think I was the only car out of 30 at the last Schuh I went to that had a spoiler.
