I recently hit a deer and need to replace the headlight assemblies on my 2007 BMW 335i Convertible. The problem is that it came with the factory Xenon HID lights that turn when you steer. They are incredibly expensive and I want to replace them with LED headlight assemblies at a fraction of the cost, BUT THE PLUG IS DIFFERENT! Why would BMW do this? Is there an adapter I can purchase that will allow me to plug standard, non-moving assemblies into the port designed for the factory Xenons?
There is no adapter available that I know of. You're going to have to rewire it. And you're going to have warning lamps and check control messages every time you start the car. My advice would be to suck it up and fix it the right way. Maybe find a used headlamp at a junkyard if you need to.

I found OEM headlights on ebay for about $600 a pop for the HID adaptive style vs about $1,200 from Stealer.

AL (Automotive Lighting) / MAGNETI-MARELLI. Does not say BMW "stuff" on the HID lens though.
That's what I was afraid of. That's the double edged sword of BMW'S; awesome features, but expensive to replace.
