    Post swap ABS/DSC issues

I have completed an S54 swap into an E46 Sport Touring. The engine is a 5/2002 S54 with an MSS54 DME. The ENTIRE engine compartment was swapped into a 2/2001 E46 325 wagon. Typical oil pressure light and battery light issues have been addressed. However, the ABS and DSC lights are on solid. I am not having any luck with INPA, but have not tried DIS/TIS. I have a Snap-On Solus with European software, but not the correct OBD2 adapter, so no luck there -- YET. I have the correct piece ordered.

So, who knows of this and what have they done?

Digging up this thread as I have a similar issue with an 06 S54 Engine, Transmission, and instrument cluster swap into a 2000 323 iT. Any coding recommendations, potential sensor failures, or other ideas to fix the ABS and DSC lights?

Assuming a manual transmission, if you want your cruise control to function, you'll need to buy an E46 M3 clutch position sensor.

As for the cluster, you will see the mileage of the donor car as well as a tamper dot. There is a guy in Pennsylvania that can clear your M3 cluster so when you re-install it the car will see a virgin cluster and the cluster will see the VIN and correct chassis mileage and import that. Also, until you install correct M3 diameter tires, the odometer and speedometer will be way off. But, they can be programmed to be correct for the wheels/tires you choose.

You should be able to clear the codes. If not, I did not have that issue with my 01 325i Touring. What sort of scan tool do you have?

What are your plans for the final drive? If you are swapping into a manual, it has a 3.07 final drive and the car will be bog slow. Short of swapping the entire rear suspension, diff, and subframe, you'll be best off swapping something from another E46 (other than M3 stuff). A ZHP auto has a 3.64 (identical to an M3, but that may be a typo in the attached chart. Lots of other E46s have 3.46 diffs. I bought an MFactory helical LSD. Caution, the carrier bearings are $200 a pair, and just about the only source is Europe. I sent my open diff to MFactory and they swapped the bearings for me.

    HTH some.
