Can anyone ID this under-dash harness?

I recently removed the old Alpine alarm from my 97' 1.9. The alarm was patched into the harness in the photo below. I repaired the wiring, but i'm wondering what it's purpose is, and I do not see anywhere under the dash for it to clip into. The car starts and runs fine with it as is, just wondering what it is for, and if it's alright to be left as is. Thanks.

That's on the passenger side, BTW.

It's pre-wired for the alarm system.
