I have a '82 E21 and there is a coolant leak from under the intake manifold that seemed to be coming from a hose. When I removed the hose, the metal piece that comes out of the intake manifold came out with it and it is corroded. I called Pelican and the metal piece that comes out of the intake manifold cannot be purchased on its own and I would either have to find another intake manifold or either have the piece machined or find a welder.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this?
Thank you
The only coolant pipe I know of under the manifold is #14- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_0644
It runs front to back and I had to replace mine as well due to corrosion. Easily obtainable though.
If that is not what you are referring to, can you locate it on REALOEM and provide a visual?
I can't find a good image and I'm not with the car at the moment but please refer to:

The hose is directly attached to the intake manifold and comes out at the bottom. Based on the schematic I just posted, is there a hose that goes to #3 or #4?
I believe #3 and #4 are studs that are used to attach the #22 arm using the #14 and #15 nuts and washers.
Maybe you're looking at #9 which caps a vacuum port on the intake (red cap in the second picture)?
Or could it be the throttle assembly that has some cooling hoses going to it? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_0159
Can you point it out in one of these pictures?

I believe it's where I circled in the red. I remember the hose has a clamp on it. Do you think I need to find a welder or is there an alternative? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that is used to heat up the throttle body in colder climates. In LA you shouldn't really need it.
- You can try to find another throttle body and just swap it out
- Find a welder to put a new barbed fitting in
- Drill a tap a new barbed fitting in
- Just bypass the throttle body entirely by connecting the two hoses together. (probably the cheapest and best solution)

@amarino thanks for the reply. I'll think about what to do. Hopefully the car can be on the road again soon.
Yeh bypass the coolant lines with a hose, it will make your intake air cooler. Just ran a new section of hose form the supply off the water pump tee straight back to the block. It is designed to keep the intake from icing up in very cold climates. (below zero F)

Amarino you got it I had to replace mine about a month ago.
Looks like Realoem listed it as #18 (vent hose) runs from the hard line to under the intake manifold.
It's a real PITA to replace, especially with the awkward position under the manifold, I'd suggest using a long screwdriver for the hose clamps and a magnetic tool grabber for if you lose the screwdriver or hose clamps under the manifold.
Hi
Do you know the part numbers for the coolant hoses under the intake manifold from the picture you sent?
I need to replace the one that goes from the intake manifold to the steel pipe right before the water pump.
Thank you so much in advance

I am planning to drive it in the winter on cold dry days (before snow and after snow season) will this affect it? In any case, do you know what the part number is for this or what are the hose dimension? Thank you for your help again
Eli
If it was so cold out that the air temperature adversely affected the engine, you wouldnt want to drive the car, anyway.
I think it's 3/8" coolant hose. buy a few feet at your local parts store.
