Looking for the bushing for the rear axle upper wishbone where it connects to the sub frame. I'm not finding it anywhere.
I know Wokke sells a remanufactured wishbone with bushing and all but was going to try and do it myself assuming it can be pressed in without special tools?

They are avail on eBay from a seller in Europe. I ordered a pair a few weeks ago (about $100 ea) but they have not arrived yet. I guess they were shipped surface mail. No big deal pressing them in/out with a press. I already pressed out the old ones.

I can supply the rebuilt upper wishbones no need to buy from Germany pay shipping and wait, could be persuaded to sell just the bushings.
Here’s a link to the ones I purchased

I also sell the upper arms on an exchange basis. You may well find that with a 40 thou interfearance fit on those bearings from Germany, you will destroy it trying to press it in.
I returned them because they do not fit.
I did not know from where you have this Informations.
I only can speak for my small Company called PuschesParts.
Here are some Informations:
I have no Returns yet and sold about 50 Pcs busings and about 30 PCs complete Wishbones.
The parts are manufactured with original BMW drawings i get from BMW Classic.
To press in you Need an small pipe (wall diameter 1,5mm) and some grease.
you have to press it in on outer Side !
If needed i will supply the Pipe and Instructions on my homepage.
BUT, since this year I deliver the whole wishbone only to Countries in Europe.
This depends on new german customs regulations. Also the Costs for sending to and back is to high.
What works is to get the bearings only, from me.
Look at www.puschesparts.de or on ebay user: PuschesParts
Ist cheaper for you to paint the Wishbone for yourself an press then the bearing into the whole.
Shipment takes normaly 10-12 Days for shipment with DHL Premium (secured)
PuschesParts is the first Adress for 8-Series Parts in Germany.
My Name is Ralf Pusch (Pusches) and I am the President of the BMW 8-Series Club / Clube31 Worldwide Owners Group.
We are member of the BMW Classic and Type Clubs and officially accepted by BMW
i dont think a separate bushing was ever made by lemforder or anybody to be sold separetely,
these are bushings that have been machined to fit the sleeve on the wishbone,
nothing wrong with that as long as its done right.
you can almost makeout the tool marks on the ones sold on ebay if i am not mistaken.
I just ordered a pair. Will update when installed.

Are these the same as Wokke’s (except available without wishbone)???
What ever happened to the “softball” bushings?

Here is his website: http://www.wokke.de/
I did not see them, but I am just getting into mechanical work on my first 8 so I am not going to be as familiar with parts as most people on here. I would send an email to him. Ed, dragon850, see post above, also has some suspension components.
For the fronts you have to buy the whole arm. They range from $50 each on eBay to about $150 for oem or good aftermarket.

After a long wait I finally received the bushings today
I checked the dimensions and they are exactly same as the parts I removed. These appear to be a standard bushing (used on Mercedes I think) that has been machined to fit.
I pressed the old bushings out with a 12pt socket. It buggers up the bushing but since these are going in the trash its not a problem. The tubing I used to press in the new bushing was not strong enough to press out the old bushing (it collapsed).
I used 1.5" OD exhaust pipe to press in the new bushings (an exhaust coupling from pep boys).
I cut it into 2 pieces. One limits the depth (important as you'll never get it perfectly centered unless you limit the travel) and the other to press it in. Sand the inside lips smooth to avoid damaging the boot on the bushing. This pipe fits snug over the bushing boot. I used a piece of thick walled aluminum tube I had lying around for the receiver.
Here's how it all goes together:
I placed the bushings in the freezer for a couple hours and heated the control arms with a heat gun until they were good and hot. Applied a little oil to the bushing and control arm then pressed them in (they pressed in easily - a nice tight fit).
I'm very pleased with the result, these control arms are as good as new again and cost a lot less than other options.
