Tried the "My .02 fix" now things much worse!

    Hello,
My car was throwing a DSC error / brake, and the steering angle sensor came up when it was scanned. So i tried to give the fix i found online. I followed instructions, took apart the steering colum and got to the sensor, everything looked fine, so i decided not to mess with it. When i put everything back together the passenger restraint system was giving an error, and both the blinkers and windshield wipers do not work any longer. I took everything apart again, double checked all connections, and still the same issue. Horn, and steering wheel buttons work still.

I did accidentally spin the "clock spring" at first when installing, and took everything out again and aligned it to the marks, but still having the same issues.

Anyone have any ideas on what i could have done wrong? What's my next step, replace the whole column?

    Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. Did you hide during the nuclear missile crisis yesterday? (I lived on Maui for ~17 years)

Okay, you need to know that this forum has a lot of pro-level guys, and whatever you saw on YouTube was likely very stupid, sorry.

You need to be very specific about the vehicle you're discussing.

Um, you can't deal with this stuff, without having a really good BMW specific diagnostic computer. At the very least, you'll need to reset the error counter of the steering sensor.. This pretty much requires ISTA, or at least Autologic. I'm assuming you're dealing with an 08 328, but I'm not sure. Whatever video you watched, it did not serve you well.

There's nothing more I can tell you, until you're hooked to the car with ISTA, and you've run through the test plan. You likely need a BMW specialist shop.

Hello, and thank you. I actually didn't hide at all, i didn't have anywhere to go, so i had a beer and waited to see what would happen.

Yes sorry it's a 08 328i. The solution i actually found online on another forum, a lot of members said it fixed their steering angle sensor issue. I really have no clue why the passenger restraint system would be affected by anything i did . It's a little frustrating because i need the car, but i can't drive it without blinkers.

Ill take a look for a BMW shop and see if i can't figure out what's wrong, i was just hoping that someone on the forum might have a clue as to what i did wrong, and why these things are not working.
