Stock E93 with JB4, Map 5 giving over 19 PSI

Hi all,

My E93 is stock to the best of my knowledge.
I run 91 Octain and it's below 0C.

(My JB4 is used)
I flipped it into map 5 and was getting steady 18 PSI up to 19.3.
It felt stunning and no warnings or dropping to map 4 for safety.
I did notice after a while of good pulls mostly brief, like 3 seconds, that it has lowered to approx 16.5 PSI.

Couple questions... I'm still learning here and did try to figure it out by reading... I tend to chase the wrong rabbits when researching...

I thought map 5 started boost low and built upwards as it learns.
Does it?
If so, maybe it retained self learning boost values, even while sitting on the shelf, between cars?

If she continues to put out 16.5 PSI, should I feel comfortable driving it like that? Feels sweet, sounds nice.

At 16.5 PSI with stock exhaust (vert sounds much nicer than my coupe) what would the 'assumed' HP be? (IAT approx 5c)

I sort of figure at this time I only need the FMIC if I start running higher IAT, which may happen in the summer or if I do longer pulls/track, which I do not.
Sound true, or I'm missing the mark?

I think the "autotune" capabilities of the JB4 are a little overstated. Don't get me wrong, the JB4 is great, but I like to keep things safe. Map 1 is designed for stock cars and pushes 12.5psi. Map 2 should have catless downpipes, intercooler, and 93 octane for best results, and that runs 14 psi. I'm sure that map 5 feels great, but I wouldn't be comfortable running that much boost, especially on 91 octane.
My recommendation would be to run map 1 with a backend flash, and look at an intercooler upgrade.

The intercooler would strictly lower the air temp post turbos, correct?
I'm considering the advantage of this and debating it within myself.
If I tracked or lived in the south, I'm sure I'd be 100% for it.
However, with 3-5 second boosts, I'm not finding my IAT jumps too high (we'll see in the summer on a hot day).
As I understand it, it won't let me run higher boost unless my temps are compromised (longer boosting, hot ambient, etc).

Thoughts? I'm I on target, or missed it?

By lowering the IATs, the intercooler provides more knock resistance. This is particularly important when running 91 octane. You can pick up a few horsepower with an intercooler upgrade without changing boost settings. A cooler/denser air charge will yield more power, even at the same boost level.
