WTT or FS: 2002 540i 6-speed, 83k. Trade for an automatic - MA

I purchased this 2002 540i from its second owner last November (a retired doctor). It was intended to be my daily driver, but unfortunately the manual transmission just doesn't work for my current family situation and commute. As such, I don't daily drive it, and I'd rather have one that I can more comfortably use on a daily basis. So here it is for sale or trade.

    About the car:
    83,000 miles
    - Previous owner replaced the shifter with a UUC short shift kit and weighted UUC leather wrapped knob. I did not care for the knob and swapped the factory one back onto the UUC lever. (Pics are from January and show the UUC knob-- stock is currently installed.) Everything works well and the UUC knob will be included.
    - Options include cold weather package, split-fold rear seats, navigation and DSP in addition to all of the usual 540-sport options (sport seats, Montana leather, rain-sensing wipers, HID headlights, etc.)
    - Previous owner upgraded the "angel eye" halos to LED which match the HID headlight color, and added blackout grilles.
    - Full service records since 2005. Previous owner purchased the car as CPO at 22k miles and kept all service records since. Notable replacement items include cooling system, water pump, and power steering pump.
    - When I took ownership, I had the oil changed, valve cover gaskets replaced, new OEM spark plugs installed, 1-year old tires from my previous 540i swapped on (Continental DWS-06 with lots of remaining tread), and I swapped in a 1-year old BMW battery and 2-year old OEM BMW floor mats from my previous car.
    - The car is in excellent and complete condition-- again, I bought it intending to own it for a very long time. It rides excellently. The wood trim is free of cracks, the exterior has a few paint blemishes but NO dents. All pixels work, all accessories and electronics work, navigation includes a set of map CDs, and previous owner included a car cover (I believe from BavAuto).
    - Clean title and no accidents that I’m aware of.

    Known issues:
    - There is a small paint touch up on the corner of the trunk lid, and the passenger side has minor paint bubbling in two small spots less than the size of a quarter. One is located above the rear passenger wheel, just where the bumper meets and is very small and minor, the other is slightly larger but located on the rocker behind the front wheel passenger side. I had planned to have these addressed to nip them in the bud, and I would advise the future owner do the same.
    - Previous owner had some paintless dent removal done near the grille, and there is very minor fitment discrepancy with the grilles. Only noticeable if you know about it and seek it out. All body imperfections are very minor and this car looks above average.
    - Both seats have some "seat twist" issues in the bottom height adjustment. No issues with the recline or forward-backward position adjustment. The fix for this is free, just takes some time. I hadn’t yet gotten to this, especially since the driver seat is in the right position for me.
    - I have noticed some intermittent "grabbiness" in the braking. It never shows up in around-town driving, only after braking from highway speeds. I'd say it will need front brakes and likely a caliper rebuild (front right seems to be the issue).
    - There are a couple of minor surface scratches in the side of the passenger seat leather.
    - I have not had the interior professionally cleaned since purchasing, and I believe it could benefit from a proper detailing. The interior is in really nice condition though.

Asking $9,000 based on current market for low mileage cars, overall condition, and the work it needs. I'm very interested in a trade for an automatic sport package 2001-2003 540i without navigation. More mileage is ok as long as it's well sorted and has records to prove it.

email me at hamm.ben AT gmail.com. Thanks, Ben

I will respond to email. PPI at buyer's expense is fine, but i basically just had one done after I bought it. Valve covers were leaky (which I had repaired w/ BMW parts), new oil filter housing cover (broken plastic tabs inside that hold the filter), new spark plugs while valve covers were done. Outstanding mechanical issues are the brake issue described above, and the seat adjustment mechanism. Thanks for your interest!

Reviving this thread, car is still available. I was considering Bring-a-trailer, but thought I'd offer it up here again before trying to go that route. I'd really prefer a trade, but willing to sell also. Thanks.
