I just finished installing a class 3 hitch on my 2010 x3 and it was a breeze. I found one for $102 at etrailer.com (no affiliation) and saved myself $250-500. They had good videos of the install (about 17 screws total to remove) and took 2 hours start to finish. Now I can pull the boat and see if i can find a small trailer for weekends or vacations. I had estimates from $360 to over $600 and didn't want to spend that much.
Sounds like a good deal. Although X3 is not really a tow vehicle, you will be fine hauling a small boat, jetki or a small trailer.
I was a little intimidated at first about removing the bumper cover but it comes off easily and shops around here are wanting crazy money to install. Yep a fishing boat or small camper is about all I'll tow.
I have a curt adapter that I wired in at the tail light harness behind the lights.
