I daily drive a 1996 328is e36, however i recently aquired a s52 with 180k miles on it and decided that I’m going to do the swap and put it in my car. Then i thought about it more and decided why stop there? Now i plan to turbocharge this engine. However before i start i have some questions on internals
I know this is greatly dependent on power goals, but if i were wanting to make around 450hp out of this s52, what internals would you recommend?
ARP head studs,
Maxpeeding Forged Connecting Rods,
CES Cutring Head Gasket, and
Wiseco Low Compression Turbo Pistons
are all on the list. The goal here is to do it one time and do it right.
I would like to hear what other internals you would recommend upgrading to handle the extra power and stress it will be going through. I want to have this engine fully built to handle boost before it goes in the car.
I appreciate any feedback given and am thankful for any suggestions
A good condition stock short block is fine for 450 rwhp. But if you want to build the motor, any of the aftermarket rods and pistons are fine, like Eagle or K1 and JE or Wiseco or Mahle or CP.
Awesome, very good to hear. I realize that it may be overkill but i just want to make sure that i put the work in to get any kind of extra insurance i can to help minimize the risk of damaging anything. Thank you for the quick reply
What about the 1992 non vanos motor rods that are beefier?
