I was driving down the highway ('76 2002) seemingly ok until it dies. No spark, so I installed new coil, cap, rotor, condensor, points and wires. Getting 12v to both the coil and distributor (points spark when separated) but still no spark at the plugs. What else is there that I am missing?
Welcome to the Forum!
Now it has been a little bit since I have worked on a points distributor, so bear with me.
Did you check the air-gap on the points? What was the results?
Did you remove the distributor cap to ensure the rotor was turning? In rare cases the shaft can sheer off. Just bump the starter to see.
Also does the motor go to TDC?
While the M-10 is pretty solid motor thing can go funky, so it doesn't hurt to see if the engine will go to TDC, and the rotor is pointing in the right direction.

points gap @ .026, rotor turns, distributor turns, so assume would move to a tdc setting, but obviously can't check dynamically. Don't know what else to do or where to go for help. Thanks.
IIRC on the late cars there's a fusible link wire to the coil, or maybe it's a resistor wire. I'll have to dig through my 2002 stuff to see what I can find. In the meantime, have you tried asking over at 2002FAQ? Lots of specialist knowledge over there.

Thanks for that info. Where is that fusible link located?

I thought this post was on the 2002FAQ. I must not know where that is. "General questions"? I don't see anything on any page that says "2002FAQ". I typed that in the search bar and it brought me right here.
this is bimmerforums - your search brought up this post because the word 2002FAQ is within it.
2002FAQ is another site/resource - link below found in google:
