    Low beams

I,m sure this question has been asked but i'm going to ask anyway.

On my 2000 E38 Sport, I have noticed that drivers side low beam appears to be bright white while passenger side seems to be more of a yellow.

    Funky at best.

I would like to replace them both with new matching bulbs. I know there are some upgrades that have come about since 2000 and would ask the forum to
chime in and give some input as to what would be a good choice.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to figure out if you have halogen bulbs or HID system. I bet that you have halogen ones and if that's the case, bulbs are cheap and could be purchased at any auto store really.

Just get H1 bulbs for your low beams. If you have the owners manual, you can find the instructions on how to replace them.

Looks like you might need an H7 halogen?

IF you are talking about your DRLs (daytime running lights) and not really the low beam Xenons. Xenons typically do not have a high and a low setting, most are on all the time and the high beam part is simply blocked by a mechanical shutter. At least that's how mine are.

    Thanks Rustynuts.

    Do you own a E38?

I do not see any type of mechanical shutter on my headlight assemblies.

They are definately xenon lights and appear to have both a low beam bulb and a high beam bulb.

e38s do not have a bixenon setup, thus no shutter/shield/solenoid.

    Thanks for your response Mless5.

Taking my time to get to know the car. Purchased two 9.5" x 18" style 37 wheels for the rear of the vehicle last week.

There are lots of little things that need attention on this vehicle and I will repair or replace as time and money will allow. The one big thing coming up will be the replacement of the timing chain guides, sometime this summer. I'm a gearhead and feel confident with doing that task myself.

This is a nice car and it has very good bones.

Sorry, going off my E83 which does have bi-xenon. Figured they were all the same. On my lights you can't see the actual bulb or shutter through the optics lens, but you can see the shutter by looking through where the bulb gets installed in the rear of the light.
