It works fine.
I have a little oil in my charge pipes but if you read about turbo cars, its actually normal as long as its not excessive, puddling heavily or coating your MAF often
Only thing I would suggest is welding a steel plate to the bottom or top of an X brace to prevent debris from hitting it
a $10 investment, ill be welding one soon

Did a baseline on the dyno at work seems alright for a stock 209k m50. Car runs great.

What's up guys making more headway on my build. Recently developed a leak on my head gasket so I bought a nother motor and I'm putting It together to drop it my car with the turbo. So far I've stripped it down most of the way sending the head off to be checked and decked and hot tanked then will re install. Looking at different head gasket options and weighing the pros and cons and wanted to know the best option for 3-400.

For cheap insurance you could also throw a new set of rings on the pistons if that's something you're comfortable with, even though its not necessary at that power level.

So update here's the motor I picked up for the swap. Said to have ran prior to being pulled so far I have everything off but the vanos cover head pulling those tonight. And sending the head out tomorrow or Friday.

Got my oil pan cleaned up and tapped to 1/2NPT picking up a fitting on my way home today to use for draining. My turbo came in the mail last night so that was exciting unboxing it.

The head cleaned up good for coming off of an 80 dollar motor. Had them clean in pressure check it and then deck it.

Waiting on my gaskets and new guides then it's time for reassembly. I have a question though, my vanos cover studs were damaged and bent so I removed them and want to replace them my question is do they have to be studs and nuts or would a bolt suffice?

Will be reassembling the head tomorrow when I get some free time.

Little by little getting there got the head assembled and torqued then timed ready for install. Waiting on my gaskets to get here in the next few days.
