Structural differences between SWB and LWB?

I know that the LWB models are 5 inches longer than the standard car and that all of the added length lies in the back seat, but are there any additional structural differences in the uni-body between these two models? Extra bracing etc?

The difference between an i and iL is exactly 114mm, 4.910 <> 5.024mm = 4.488 inches. I assume there are no structural differences. The only one I know is the headliner of the iL has in the center between the B pillars 2 additional clips

Would an iL be dynamically different compared to the SWB version? ie: more stable at high speed due to the longer wheelbase?

Perhaps at Bonneville, but at even at autobahn speeds, the weight of the car keep it stable.

Plus, don't forget the little duck wing on the back edge of the trunk lid! Down force galore from that thing

It should be slightly more stable, yes, but the trade off is a slightly duller turn in response.

Are there any differences between the 735i and 740i bodies? Can you swap all of the M60 parts over to a narrow grill body without issue?

You can swap to wider grill, possible, parts are interchangeable, but some minor parts are different depending on built year, for example the wiring for the foglights and the outside temp sensor on older E32 has one large connector behind the bumper left side like this http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/OBC_...onnector-1.jpg while newer ones have separate plugs.
Conversion to wider grill is on my website, go there>>links and lots of DIY>>>other DIY sites>>>Jon Evans
