Remove the case, clean

it a guy whom weld aluminum.

Then after you weld it, take
it to to Machine shop and you
can machine the whole back
to original spec.

It may require to make a
sleeve and cut up to size.

We are getting close.

Thanks Anri, it sounds like given the amount of work it may be worth finding a used (not cracked ) cover.

However finding a 265/6 cover will be difficult i understand.

Hey guys, I haven’t had this looked over properly yet since my mechanic hasn’t had time but he was able to look over it very quickly and said the seal is not seated evenly around the shifter rod, this might mean a bent rod. I plan on taking it back this week, but im really hoping its not bent.

The car is currently at the shop, and the culprit is a cracked rear cover. I have a spare 265/6 transmission but i cant seem to find a rear gasket for the 265/6. It does show it for the 265/5 but the shape does not appear to be the same. Any idea?

find a guy who welds aluminum for aircraft assemblies. High standards are what you need, not a part-timer. Give this guy a call as he is a machinist. John Edwards @ Costa Mesa R&D Automotive Machine Shop. (949) 631-6376 . 123 Monte Vista Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92627 Chedck out his youtube channel fiatnutz to see some of his work.
