    Why not 195/70/14 Tires

The choice of OEM size 195/65/14 tires is extremely limited. I see lots of post about this but do not see anyone say go to the 195/70/14 size. There are a lot of choices in this tire size. Also if this tire is a larger diameter tire, it may offset the over speed reading on many e30 speedometers, like my 325ic automatic which is 5+ % high. Why wouldn't this be a good tire to select?

Too tall. Also, in that size they are likely to be tires made for less performance oriented cars with floppy sidewalls. What about 205/60?

The difference between 65 or 70 series sidewall is about 5 mm, it s not that much, your ride could be a little more soft with the taller side wall

Thanks for your prayers and comments. Since by the time, I buy new tires, there will be no 195/65/14 or very, very limited, I'll have to switch to a different size. 185's are too small. Since car is a convertible and not interested in max performance, I see really not much difference in 195/70 vs 195/65, I'll go with the 70's. A pretty good selection of some better tires and also will lessen the speedometer error.

I just had to replace my 10 year old 195/65/14 Michelins (which still had a ton of tread but dry rotting), and encountered same problem with selection in that size. My 318 is stock height and used for cruising. Got some 195/70/14 Falkens put on this morning and they fit just fine. Thought I would share. Cheers.

We are about to install Falken ZIEX 195/70/14 on our 325e; I'll try to remember to post a report afterward.

Where do you get them installed? Please post a review of your Falkens when you get a chance. Thank you.

    kick,

I get them installed and balanced at the local tire store from which I buy them; never had a problem.

    No e30s, again :(
not those in particular but i have bought the weird brand names ands had no problems. they still have to pass whatever requirement to be used on the roads so I figure they are ok enough. all the odd brand sets i got from discount tire online and had them shipped to me, or from tire rack or national tire and battery
    No e30s again.

    26k,

Based upon the images, they don't appear very effective at at water dispersal . . . and I think we all know about the E30's hydroplaning tendancies . . .
