How To >> Fit a remote-controlled WiFi Dash Cam without removing any trim

Here's how to install a Yi 2.7k Ultra Dash Cam - but I’m not going with the dangly-wires and a plug poked in the cigarette lighter socket, and I'm not removing the self-destructing trim, no we are going advanced here with the additional features of:

The camera will stay live for 16 minutes after the car is locked
The video files can be remotely viewed and downloaded if within WiFi range
    No trailing wires
    No trim removal required
No need to plug into the cigarette lighter socket
Remote camera activation if within key remote range
Will not discharge the car batteries

    Here's how to do it:

Timm, have you ever reviewed the Yi license agreement? I'm not sure about dashcams, but their webcam click-thru agreement is widely disparaged for having no regard as to consumer/customer privacy. Not entirely on point, but relevant to me and possibly others! I don't see why the agreements would be different, and since the device is retaining information and has the ability to connect by WiFi at home (or anywhere, on open networks?), one wonders how much is being uploaded or logged. Is the device GPS enabled as well?

(It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you.)

    Cheers, John

Fortunately, if you think the FBI are following your every move you can switch the WiFi option OFF at the camera (it has a little LCD screen on it for options) - and just pop the sd card out if you want to download. MI5's trail on me went cold a long time ago so I will keep using the WiFi option!

P.S. I deliberately didn't go with a GPS camera as there are sure to be occasions where I go 1 MPH over the speed limit which would invalidate any video I wanted to use in evidence!
