This happen to me last year. Turned out my fuel level sending unit was the bad guy. Every time i gassed up it was spitting could barely fuel up at the station.
Sooooo….. I had a fuel smell in my cabin a while back so I pulled the vale to check it’s function. Seemed good so I put it back and checked under the hood.
Turned out I had leaks in 3 places from the fuel lines along the fire wall. I replaced all of the lines and clamps there and was on my way.
Not long after I started to get fuel smells again in the cabin, especially after hard acceleration, or long drives.
After rechecking the fuel lines under the hood, replacing the cap on the charcoal canister, and checking the lines in and out of it, I decided that the vent may have died.
I bought the Nissan valve and was about to do the swap when I decided to double check the hose routing.
Turns out that I had the hoses routed wrong. The top line goes to the bottom and the bottom hose goes to the top. I had the hoses backwards and so the tank wasn’t able to vent at all.
Quick swap and we’re good to go again….
