I recently switched from driving a 2004 530i to a 2012 528ix. The 2004 had Michelins. The 2012 has stock Conti run flats and x drive. I miss the softer, grippier feel of the Michelins in the 2004 530i. The 2012 528ix has run flats with 25,000 miles gently driven. 1) Manual says not to rotate tires (really?) 2) Michelin does not make run flats for the 2012 3) will run flats ever compete with conventional tires for feel and grip? 4) If I get new tires in 10k or so, should I a) go for Road Force Balancing and b) which run flat gets the closest to the feel I liked with the Michelins on the 2004 530i 5) Is it that the x drive and rear wheel drive vehicles are so different I just have to appreciate a different kind of ride and run flats will never be the same as conventional tires? Many thanks!
