    Any split 5.0 blocks??

Keep hearing about this 450hp threshold that the 5.0s have. Has anyone actually had this, or know of it really happening to anyone? With the 100 shot imma be pretty close to this number.

From what I've read, it's about the tune. Some people are running 500 to the wheels with success. Others have cracked blocks at 400whp. Engine tune is very important

May start building another block in the mean time, for insurance.

    I like your style.
If God meant for man to motor-swap LS engines into track cars, He wouldn't have created Corvettes.

I've seen a few small block fords splitting in half. I personally love the sbf. When it comes to a kind of reliable higher power build. Your best option is turbo with a really good tune. the constant power of an all engine or supercharger build puts too much stress on these blocks. A 100 shot might be ok depending on how often you spray. Good luck with your build. You can go check mine out if you would like to see this swap.

I think theturboforums.com aka turbomustangs.com would have your answer. There's a ton of info over there.

I think the issue is that fox body's are so cheap, their ECU's are not nearly as good for tuning as BMW ECU's from the same period and a lack of better options. A guy on sloppy mechanics has been running 9's on a 5 speed turbo stock block fox body without issues for almost a year. If you want it to live, get a stand-alone ECU, get a good harmonic balancer, a modern cam grind (no ancient 303 cams), keep RPM's below 6200 and be conservative with timing

Thanks for the input guys! No computers here, so all will be from timing and just making sure everything is meshing together properly.
