    E34 MAF Upgrades (Miller?)

    Car: 90' E34 535i (M30B35)

Anyone have experience with the Miller Gen3 MAF kit? Is it worth the price? Do you use the stock air box or an "upgraded" intake?

My stock MAF has finally died after 28 years of hard service and I'm looking at alternatives since the stock MAFs are restrictive. I've been looking at these Miller Gen3 MAF upgrade kits, but don't know if they are worth the money or not. Any opinions/advice?

Its all about weighing options. The cheapest is a used one on ebay or the junkyard. The midrange is the miller maf. And the most expensive is new oem. Pick your poison.

Not to hijack the thread, but since we're talking MAFs... aside from new oem or ebay, is there another option for the M50 non vanos? Mine is still ok (knock on wood) but I see those are as rare as hen's teeth on ebay, and I don't know how great of an idea are remanufactured ones...

Does anyone know if the Miller MAF will affect smogging in CA? I have this question about their powerfold intake manifold as well.

Email miller and ask, as far as the little bit i know about california emissions, it needs to have a CARB# to be legal, right ?

Got a response back from Miller. Per their email:

"Thanks for the email. Our products are not "C.A.R.B." certified so they won't pass the visual inspection that Californians are subject too. However, we sell our products daily to customers in California so there is obviously a way around that. They do pass the actual emissions standards as we had (recently abolished luckily) "aircare" which was a slightly more strict measure in emissions testing which our products did not have any problems with. The most important thing is that A) you have a working O2 sensor and B) your catalytic converter is in place." - Brody Saari
