    2007-2008 328xi battery replacement

For people who are searching to keep it simple and not debate the resetting of the computer, registration, programming, etc.

New Bosch battery out the door with battery and battery CPU registration at PepBoys $160

$180 Bosch Premium lead battery 30% off online / install at store $125 - Part # H8-900B - I had them side by side on the counter.

$35 extra fee due to registration / CPU reset (normally it’s free install) and trunk install.

Don’t think you can beat this.

I can take the top have of my engine apart (I have), do full brake jobs, etc but don’t sweat the $100-$300 jobs as it’s not worth the time.

Just a caution to have them be careful with removal as they did break the vent elbow. That just added some time for them to find one and fix it. Otherwise no issues. I waited - tell them upfront to avoid the issue.

Barely got through last winter and with the Northeast cold the past two weeks had to do it.

For those of you wondering - original battery with date stamp of 01/08... so lead acid OEM battery lasted 10 yrs... probably 1 too many to be honest and was a NJ and CT car.

    Interesting...
I'm at the same Point... NJ car, 10 y/o battery. Time to replace as the clock keeps resetting and the start ups are becoming more laborious. LOL.
But I'm hoping to do the job myself.
You say Pep Boys... Hmmm havent been to one of those in years.
Will have to see. But I'm looking for an Interstate battery and where to buy it
UNLESS someone has a better idea.
My only concern is the Interstate battery doesnt look the same as the OEM BMW one.
And I am getting conflicting info on the SIZE of the battery. The part # reflects an H6 size(48?) 720CCA 160 RC 90Ah battery.
    Too much confusion!!!
    Any additional info is appreciated!

If the clock were resetting because the battery died, the car would never start. The amount of electricity necessary to turn the engine is hundreds of times greater than that necessary to run the clock.

Have you checked with the dealership, to see whether you car was part of the junction box recall? Chances are this is your issue.

By the way, registering the battery is important, if you want it to be charged correctly.

If your BMW battery is black, it is an AGM (absorbed glass mat)battery. This is a better batter than common wet-cell (flooded) batteries. Both are lead acid.
