I've removed the battery for the winter. My car (DE84687) a 1993 740il has only 1 battery under the rear seat. Rearward from it is a white circular 2-pin connector that is sealed with an O-ring. While taking out the battery, I cracked this connector that goes through the body shell. I will post a photo and am trying to identify it so that it could be replaced.
Many thanks to all and certainly a Happy New Year
Ken
All E32 have only 1 battery under the rear seat, in case the car has a second battery, that will be in the trunk right hand side.
Have not seen the pic yet, but I could imagine it is the 2 pin connector which goes thru the floor to the rear brake, connected to #9 Brake Pad Wear Sensor http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_0407

If so, the part coming out to the rear brakes is part of the wire loom and not available as single item. I once had that broken on my car on the front, luckily I had a cpl. wire loom from a parts car, cut the plug off with some pigtail and soldered it on to replace the broken plug.
Here they even sell such a part for E30, you see there is demand, -ABS-Sensor-Plug-Wiring-Pigtail https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-BMW-E30...-/262877151937
But several options, replace both, female and male plug with non original plugs; solder the wires and use shrink tube, works for sure.

740il unknown connector.jpg
Erich,
Here it is. I am hoping the o-ring section is still sufficient. But failing that, is there a source of similar commercial connectors that I can splice into this? This ebay listing you cited has only the male end and I think I should do both halves.
Many thanks!
By the way JMCLiumni and I are only about 20 miles apart and we are being slammed by a winter storm expected to dump over a foot of snow on Eastern Long Island. So at the moment, outdoor automotive activities are suspended. I have brought the back seat into the kitchen for a Leatherique treatment. This is the first time I've used it and it looks like I may have to spray some dye on the worn areas. What is a good source of matching dye that I can apply with an airbrush that matches the original?
Cheers to all,
Ken

ABS wheel speed sensor
Yes, ABS wheel speed sensor, as cirrusblau mentioned. Those plugs are not available as single item, either you get one from a parts car with a pigtail and solder it in, or replace the male and female plug with a non original one which fits somehow, or solder the wires

Erich,
I'm looking through realoem for the relevant wiring harness but cannot seem to locate the proper group or part number. (VIN DE84687)
I would not try to replace the complete harness, for that (in case you really find one) you would have to remove the seats and the carpet. Easier is just to find a used one with pigtail and solder it in.I did the same on the one on front left side under the fender.
But the old ones are also brittle, best is to find a new plug set (male and female) of similar shape and replace both plugs, easiest and fastet and longest lasting.
There are a lot of cables under the carpet as you can see here when we parted a 750iL http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/t...l/P1020853.jpg
Just a moment: what about this one? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=61_2643
05 Repair cable ABS 61139061686
Cannot find a pic online, but that might be it.
ECS sells it for $61.33 ,list price $73.85 (17% off MSRP)

I think I found the item 34521181490 which includes the female end at FCP Euro including the sensor at $167.89. Now I just need to see whether this extends all the way from the sensor into the body connector. If not, maybe Molex has something suitable. I will also follow up on the repair cable mentioned above.

That you do not need, that is coming from the wheel, OEM BMW 34521181490 Pulse generator, ABS , here for $70 https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-BMW...-/162135200311
that is from the wheel/sensor into the body, and you need the other side coming from engine bay.
Cheapest will be 2 male pins crimped on the 2 wire and plug them into the female 34521181490 plug and some shrink tube.
In any case you have to fix that, otherwise the ABS light will be permanently on and the system might cut into limpmode.

As with all BMW plastic connectors, these are notorious for being brittle with age. I've never seen from my parts cars a connector that's not yet somehow crushed.
I found a Molex "Plug Housing with Integrated Seal- Valueseal" Numbers 172877-0002 and 172878-0002 which can be bought through Digikey. Molex has great product drawings. Only question is how the wire is fixed to the connector. It mentions "terminal series 173041 and terminal series 173042" It seems that the plug housing holds the terminals. Wire can be 16 or 18 gauge. BTW, the body side connector is OK, it is the wheel side that got damaged. Will report back as I know more. I am hoping that crazy glue will put the broken piece back together.
Otherwise, the terminals are $0.11 each, the 172878 is $2.03 and the 172877 is $1.81, plus Digikey's S&H. Cheap if it works as Molex Value Seal video says it is waterproof.
Cheers!

Did you figure out how to crimp/pin the terminals? In the same *exact* situation myself. Did the battery thing.
Looks like the same part at Newark?

...also, they don't seem to have 172877-0002 in stock, does this look similar?
