My x3 has run perfect for year & half. Came up north
and after a few days of very cold weather it won't start.
I've tried boosted car and thats not even doing it. 100's of miles from home & desprate to get car going. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
No crank? Dead battery? What's happening? Maybe a really bad ground strap. Those can prevent lots of stuff from happening.
the circumstances suggest possibility of a weak/dead battery ... sometimes a journey into coooold weather can finish it off so bad that even a boost will not get the the engine started.
... or is it just so damn cold that the engine will not turn over fast enough to start even with a good battery
... either way first suggestion would be to tow/push/pull it into a heated shed or garage to thaw out for a night... then assess if you need a new battery
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!
Sealed gel cell batteries rapidly deplete in the cold. Subaru puts lead acid batteries in their vehicles sold in the North. Like what was said, warm the cars environment if possible, charge your battery, get a jump, AAA, BMW Roadside Assistance? Good luck.
