[QUOTE=purplecty;30148125]Wow more info on this as I am planning to do the same thing. Just swapped the oil pans, pump and chain, bank2 valve cover and e38 pcv system? Did it run ok with the stock software? Dimas shop looks like a dealer service center...

It was running pretty good maybe eating too much gas because of their a tune and software swap it became very economical as V8 can possibly be. And you going to need to reroute some oil lines from the PCV and drill a hole in oil pan for PCV oil dump. I have a few pictures I will make a thread eventually when I get to it. Holidays kids work all that stuff right now just don't have time to make a detailed description. But I tell you what after a tune and the software dump she is completely different animal I'm driving totally different car.
Vito,
I'm not clear as to what you did, but the images were blank screens. To share images, upload to a hosting site (not Photo Bucket or ImgUr) and then paste into your forum message the link to the photo.

Bilstein B4's. Already replaced the rears with them about a year ago, and the fronts were on sale. Couldn't pass them up even though the ones on the car seem to be fine. I assume they might be original.
I don't drive the car hard, maybe modestly fast on some of the mountain highways but for the most part, pretty sedate. The B4s should be just fine. I had considered the B8's (yellow ones) but they were over twice as much money.
Good deal. I do drive spiritedly but not like I drive my M3. I have a rattle that is most likely strut, strut mount or bearing so mine as well replace everything, pretty I have originals on mine. PO put sach tears on before I bought it so I’m worried the different calving will feel weird but we will see.
Hi guys, I'm new in here and here is my 740i. I own it for 4 years now, spent thousands of euros on maintenance, but I still didn't sell it and I'm trying to live with it as my one and only daily car :-)
Here's a some of my many German Autobahn Thorough Breads from the stable.

Hey all, could have taken some better pictures and will do so soon. This is my 97 740iL with 46k, which was gifted to me by my father-in-law last April 18'. I am third owner, always garage kept. Always have been a huge BMW fan since being in the automotive repair industry for 15 years but never had an opportunity to own one. Always had my eye on this gem and now the proud owner.
Car was entirely original when I received it. I replaced tires, brakes, battery, R/R window shade, rear chrome quarter trims (rubber dry rot), rear struts, headliner and all fabric trims in interior, front cup holder, complete tune up, complete BAV sound speaker upgrade, front seat power tilt motor, fixels (kudos to him) repaired my cluster, and now tinted windows.

Excellent Jimmy, very nice example of the classic E38. You've obviously been studying, keep it up, you have a gem.
The car's quite dirty due to winter time, don't mind that...
