I wish I could find a black interior iL for cheap, geez. I missed a 2001 740iL sport with widescreen, Mpars, news tires and it was inspected..$1500.

Next time, Im just buying sight unseen. #ithink

Well it's official I have the e38 sickness. Instead of picking up an e36 m3 for my daughter I ended up with another e38. We have to get rid of this darn craigslist thred.

It's a 98' 740i, Green on tan with 89,000 miles. No power, not registered for five years. I checked the battery voltage and it was 1.6. A visual inspection reveled nothing other than lack of care. He wanted $1500, she offered him $1000. He agreed to $1100 but he gets to keep the spare set of basket weaves. We had it towed home. I figured maybe I'll get lucky and drop a battery in and away we go or part it and get her money back.

I put a charger in and it would not even move the amp needle. Dropped the battery in from my car and all the lights cam on. First attempt to run it and it fired right off then died. After several more attempts I stopped to do some research. Went back to try again and got a few more short starts but it will not stay running. I'm pretty happy that it does run now I just have to figure out how to keep it running. Got all of the five year old fuel out and a fuel filter is next on the list. Wish me luck. My daughter was working on it until it got dark out.

Try running it with the MAF disconnected...

Funny thing. My daughter went out this afternoon and it fired right up. I told her to let it warm up and check that the fans worked. I went fishing.

She called me when I was out and said everything was fine. I came home to a fine dinner that she had made and after we were going for the first drive. Mt wife was a little to timid for the first drive in my absence. We all went out and the car wouldn't start. We tried several times but no luck. Unplugged the MAF and it made no difference. I could smell fuel ou the tail pipe so I guess the plugs weren't lighting off. We'll try again tomorrow. I know it runs but something is amiss?
