Put seven to winter sleep, maybe will go ride once more this weekend, but overall going to sleep over winter.

Had some new front tires installed. At the same time, I wanted to rotate my rears to combat the camber wear I get. My rear tires are Nankang NS20. They are directional, and symmetrical. I spent a long time in a tire shop today trying to convince the guy there that this means they can be rotated from one side of the car to the other, if you take them off the wheels and re-mount them on the other side.
No, no, no, he insisted. (First of all, he thought symmetrical meant asymmetrical, and vice versa, and also that directional was the same as symmetrical). Even when I showed him with my hands how I wanted the tires rotated, from one side to the other but still facing forward, he said what I was asking was the same as just flipping them from side to side on the same wheels (completely incorrect). Anyways, long story short, they only got money for the install of the front tires. I will find a more competent shop going forward lol.

Did something wrong when using black rtv to reseal valley pan
Removed intake to find leak. Tomorrow will pull off water pump and valley pan and see where my error is.
Was so hoping to get this thing running tonight!
Figured out my timing issue also. The amazon set of timing tools that I had gotten were off by quite a bit, when compared to the GAS I borrowed for comparison, so returned them for the GAS brand. I wish I had thought to take a photo to show the difference! The reviews were very mixed and a lot of people had no issues at all

My heart is not wanting to let it go after 6 years, but I think I will get 740/750 in a short while, if my will be sold.

Used an idea from Ruskii and repaired my broken C-pillar tabs by using AC vent aluminum, cutting them to fit and drilling holes. After doing this, I recommend you test fit and then drill holes so they are better centered, but still got mine to fit well. No more loose C-pillars hanging.

I used elmer's when my son and I repaired his c-pillars in his e39. Make sure you spread it very thin or it will bleed through even after it dries. But it does work well.

Shopped for transmissions...tried asking a question in my intro thread and got no response after looking for the information myself...can I use a TE or TF coded 5hp24 in place of my TB coded trans?
Finished second chain job. A little frustrated, this one had a loud chain slap noise which was covering up an exhaust leak which sounds like the driver side manifold area.
I'm still very new to BMW, these 4.4L pigs are so smooth and fast. I want to keep this one but I would destroy a tan interior (I have 2 small kids and I am pretty much a soccer mom by day minus the soccer).
Looking at one on Sunday with chain noise, hopefully can pick it up and sell this one after I do a window regulator/motor in the back. One of my brother's employees probably buying it so it needs to be perfect.

Well I have a few bills that needs to be paid because of my stupid business, almost 3000€ and I have Audi and BMW for sell, and I am getting pretty good money for my 7, almost most expensive at the moment in the country(Inc. 740/750) but I think the mechanicaly and bodywise condition is also best from all of those that are for sell.
540i because I wanted either 740 or 540, but no decent 740 here for sell, and 540i I am going to buy from another country. Will be my new "hobby" car.
Hard to let 7en go, after 6 years but I have to.

Sourced the location of a bad wire from MAF to DME on the V12. Removed the 4:3 head unit, replaced it with a 16:9 from eBay that was pulled from a parts car. Guy didnt know if it worked, so I got it for $75! It works! Tossed the dead MK2. Scored an MK4 on eBay from a 2003 for a cool $155. Turned around and sold my 4:3 on eBay for $75, so that was a good exchange. $155 to go from really old to just old. LOL 20 year old speakers will need attention next. Maybe another round of Monsoons, unless there's a good mod-free option out there for a decent price.

I tore apart the right rear door, bad window regulator. Why didn't someone tell me to pull the quarter window shade first? I looked at Timm's site and watched a couple of youtube videos but no one covered it. Anyway the top pulley was in pieces in the bottom of the door. Dville doesn't sell the steel pulley regulators anymore. The outfit that makes the pulleys wants over $200 for 12 pulleys. The window is blocked up and I'm going back to the ship in a week. I'm going to try and cut something on the lathe.
I have a question for anyone who has had one fail. Is it always the upper pulley that breaks? it would seem to be due to the load of lifting the window. Secondly has anyone had an aftermarket window regulator in long enough to have it fail? How long did it last?

Both of my rears failed. I replaced them with cheap regulators from 1aautoparts.com on March 1, 2015. The regulators had the plastic pullies. I lubed the rear window tracks with lithium grease, and continue to lube them to make sure they work without a lot of effort from the motor. It's been almost 40,000 miles, countless window cycles, no problems.
So I went and bought E39 540i (6/99)
from Estonia
Have some small issues, but for me that's one evening to fix.
Still miss my E38 and my 3 year old son, noticed that E38 is missing, he almost started crying, asking, where is blue BMW?

A minor battle of the wits here with cheap regulators, animate vs inanimate...on the 3rd passenger front, previous two snapped the plastic cable ends at the mounts (just pinched metal tabbing). The last one bound up the cable in the spool, crunch.
Had it with them, time to make my own. Buy cheap, get cheap.
