The FX Stage 4 clutch you chose is rated for 340 ft/lbs of torque. How is it doing with your power levels?

Man to to be honest I’ve felt it slip in the beginning of 3rd one time on a 14.5 psi pull. Also felt it slip randomly in traffic once in a while when I’m heavily on and off engagement.. But OVERALL, I can’t believe it’s taking the abuse... atleast for now... but something tells me this clutch is completely maxed out now...
Looking back I’m still happy I did this build on a cheap clutch like this and a stock block... sure helps you figure out what you really want and were you need to spend your money.

Sure, I can understand that they might have some margin in their claims of 340 ft/lbs, but 400 ft/lbs is only a 15% margin. I'm not saying that the stage 4 wouldn't hold 400ft/lbs, but there is no way that clutch is going to hold up with 500ft/lbs or anywhere near that. He is running a BW366. I had that same turbo on my E30-S52. When he turns up the boost I seriously doubt it will hold for very long. The BW366 has A LOT of flow. Go look at what the Supra guys have been doing with that turbo, 700-800whp on a regular basis.

My car makes 620whp and 570wtrq.... I have a Fx stage 3 or 4 or what ever their "strongest" is. Mine doenst slip soooo idk maybe I got lucky?
Its all how the clutch is used, broken in, and how you shift.
For it to hold power you basically have to dump it, you cannot slip it in under any load.

Any updates? I just finished reading this thread and have really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing the story.
Yeah, I've never EVER slipped my clutch. I broke it in for 500 miles as well, changing gears, decel accel under light load too. I've had it apart and back again. Minimal wear... perfect contact patch. I've felt no need to slip it either, dump in first about 2600, it bogs just a hair... but then it's go time. Any time my foot hits that clutch pedal I'm off the gas, then change the gear.. yes it's not like driving your civic around where you can power shift 2nd and the clutch grab but heck... what do you want for 300$?

18psi on this thing and she still holding!!!
Gapped all all sorts of cars lately
re ran my nemesis 2014 track edition GTR which on the current setting is around 700wheel very close race all the way to 140 and he reeled me in when i had the car set to 15psi. This was also him letting me brake boost the car and get a tiny initial hit. Don’t know if the s52 will continue to hold up at 18 psi for now I’m staying with 15 psi....
2nd gear is pissing me off. If I slam into 2nd under full boost sometimes the shifter goes through the defent and gets stuck in 2nd gear position with no gear. Resulting in me smacking the limiter ........... not only is this embarrassing but I’m sure my motor isn’t happy about that either
Hahah yessss gap all the things. I'm doing the same thing you are, I had it on dyno queen mode for 3 months last summer and came to realize that it's just mental. 620whp on an E36 is flat nasty but 525whp will be fine. 20psi is fun n all but does it sacrafice longevity?? Probably... lol.
The ZF320 is probably at its limits above 500 lbs rwtq. I am on my 3rd. The Getrag 420G is better and needs a different clutch and linkage and driveshaft. The GS6-53 is stronger than the 420G but requires an adapter ring (Volloso sells one) and linkage and flywheel/clutch and driveshaft. I am about to install one. The T56 Magnum is stronger than the GS6-53, but is an even more expensive conversion.

in those boxes... CES extreme ported head. dual supertech valve springs. 1+mm oversized. steel retainers. sunbelt stage 2 cams. pauter rods.
Congrats on the Performance BMW feature. Does your existing head have a problem or are you just doing elective upgrades?
Just read the thread - nicely done putting this thing together. Fern Green is beautiful and so is the fabrication work on the exhaust!
