    Question Key Remote

Does anyone have experience with a company called Faster Auto Keys ? They advertise on EBay as a source of replacement keys that they supply cut to your configuration from your submitted photo of your current key. Very inexpensive compared to dealer and without the hassle of cutting open your key and replacing the battery.

It doesn’t matter how it’s cut. It’s the EWS.

Cutting a key by the pic is bad idea. I say its 50/50 that it will work in your lock. Probably they will be using a cheap Chinese key. So metal is weak and second your battery will not be charging from your ignition lock compare to OEM Bmw key. And you will still have to program it to EWS. So at the end you will probably pay more then OEM key from the dealer and you will have a cheap crapy key.

Key from the dealer cost about $180 and its ready. All of BMW keys are made in Germany and ready for your car without needing to be programmed.

The battery in an E46 doesn’t need to be registered with the car’s electronix. These cars don’t have the special charging system. That started with the E90 chassis.
