    E36 M3 control arms

Restoring a 99 m3 have a long way to go, drive it daily but plan on tracking it a few times a year...Love the koni yellows and eibach springs i put on it now im looking for new control arms. I hear good things about the meyle hd set up with offset turner bushings for good daily performance on and off the track. When looking to buy them tho, all i can find are arms for the e36 318i, are these parts between cars interchangeable? From what i can tell the m3 was different from all the other cars in the e36 class.

The M3 has different control arms from the other E36's.

If your current arms are in good shape I'd suggest replacing the ball joints rather than purchasing new arms. That's what I'm in the process of doing now. Here are the part numbers if you're curious:

    31121126253
    31121126254

You'll need two of each, and they'll run you around $125 combined if you go Lemforder OEM. With access to a big 12-20 ton press or a shop who has one, it's relatively simple to press the old ones out and the new ones in.

Thx bro...when i looked up the parts it said they were for an e30 and then i was unable to find a part number for the e36. Then i stumbled across the thread "E36 M3 Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement with E30" and they said that the e30 ball joints have the exact caliper measurement as the e36 so theyre an exact fit...even if they may not last as long as getting a new set of control arms. Eithet way ill take your $125 replacement over a $500 one that will only last a coupla years longer.

The Meyle HD arms are a great way to go. Bimmerworld sells front end suspension overhaul "kits" with everything you need for cheap.

If anything new Lemforder ball joints may last longer than whatever comes in the replacement OEM control arms (which aren't cheap). The ball joints have slightly improved over the years, and the part numbers I posted are the current versions. If you buy control arms you don't really know what ball joints are going to be in it (they'll be OEM but could be a few different makes and part numbers). They won't be bad, but they certainly won't be any better than brand new Lemforder replacement joints.
