Hello guys,
I wanted to change behaviour of my BMW e46 `99 in locking and unlocking (blinking lights and sound alarms) however I failed and I am forced to ask for help.
I used this guides to make a change:
http://blog.obdii365.com/2016/04/19/...for-beginners/
http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...ith-NCS-Expert
I couldn't find the revtor's profile so I created one with this guide
http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=29137 (also given in blog.obdii365)
so I have read the VO and GM5 and changed them (nicht_aktiv -> aktiv). However it turned out that the car does not start after making the updates. I made couple of them always with one change at the time. After each time I checked if the setting I changed works as expected but I haven't tried the engine.
Now, when I want to start up the engine
- I hear loud click
- lights blink
- and couple more
Besides that car acts normally - lights, wipers, windows, ventilation system, haven't found anything that doesn't work fine.
I have some backup files however I have noticed that I got two different FSW_PSW files - one 4KB, second 64KB and I have no idea which is the right one. I tried to bring it back to life with the earliest file I have but the car still acts the same. I don't have any more ideas. Can anyone aid me on that? Will be much appreciated.
Hmmm, I do t see how messing up the GM5 module could prevent the engine from starting. You’ve written that when you attempt to start the engine you hear a click. That sounds like the battery is low on power. Charge the battery.
Yeah, that was the battery. I charged it in the morning and the car has started. I didn't think about it at first. However as I wrote, while trying to start the engine headlights were also blinking. Also I'd expect some dimmed indicators under gauges. It seemed weird at the first glance and coincided with NCS coding. Sorry for wasting your time and thanks for the answer
You can’t waste my time!!! We’re all in this together!! Glad your problem is fixed.
