I just got a new tps and it has the little click for idle but at the top of the range there isn’t a click. Is this right? It’s for an ‘89 325i. The one on our 87 eta clicks at both idle and wot.
I’m wondering if the i engine or the later generation i cars use a different switch than the older or eta engines.

They are usually audible at both ends but best way to confirm it's working is with a VOM

+1 for the advice to check with a VOM.
The TPS has a micro switch to let the DME know the throttle is at idle, making that switch is the click you hear.
Conversely, the "other side" of the switch is the WOT contact (no micro switch) the contacts mate up silently thus, no sound.
Hope this helps.
That does help. I did verify with a meter but was never confident about the wot side being silently closed. Thanks
